Held in the underground setting of the Behind Closed Doors basement, Fair Play packs a room full of vinyl available to purchase, with rotating sellers each month, so each event is different.
As well as their regular monthly evening fairs, which take place on the first Thursday of the month, the Fair Play collective are also putting on a Record Store Day Special on Saturday 21st April. "Everyone involved in the events are vinyl enthusiasts and this year we want to celebrate record store day the proper way!" says organiser Frankie. "We are doing an all-day record fair starting at 1pm through till 8pm with DJs providing the soundtrack well into the night. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UAFSiM7h2wQ We like to bring in sellers from all over the county with the aim of bringing some fresh records into the city. The amount of great records our stall holders have for sale astounds me. The prices are always fair and we provide listening booths so you can try before you buy. It really is a diggers paradise. Crates of boogie, funk, disco, soul, nu disco, edits, latin, jazz, house, techno, DnB, hip hop, and afrobeat, rub shoulders with rock, indie, prog, folk, reggae, and dub! Plus there will be a hand picked selection of Record Store Day releases up for grabs via the Dig Deep Records stall." Stall holders on Record Store Day include: – Community Vinyl Lovers – Dig Deep Records – El Diablo’s Social Club – Planet Rock Records – BBE records – At Large – Black Bicycle – Andy’s Records + more to be announced
"Fair Play is as much a social event as an opportunity to unearth that gem you’ve been looking for" Frankie explains "we have enlisted some of the best DJs and crate diggers in the city who will be selecting a soundtrack of disco, boogie, upbeat funk and soul.
