Mogwai | 02 & 04 Feb | Albert Hall
After successfully releasing ‘Atomic’ during the summer of 2016, the Scottish post-rockers Mogwai embarked on a tour around the US last year. To kick off February Mogwai play a couple of gigs at Manchester’s Albert Hall. The Friday night gig has sold out but due to phenomenal demand the band will be returning for a 2nd Night on the Sunday. The Script | 03 Feb | Arena
After two years away Dublin’s trio The Script are back with a new album and a new tour, ‘Freedom Child’. The Script will be touring the UK this month after the success of their latest album. The band are famous for hits such as ‘The Man Who Can’t be Moved’, ‘Hall of Fame’ and ‘Breakeven’, their latest album shot straight to the top of the charts in their native Ireland, and it’s also broken into the Top 10 on iTunes in 47 other markets across the globe. The tour kicks off in Leeds, and finishes on the 23rd February in London at The O2. They play Manchester Arena on Saturday 3rd. The Amazons | 03 Feb | Albert Hall
The most hotly tipped guitar band of 2017 according to Music Week, The Amazons were shortlisted for the BBC Music Sound of 2017 poll, nominated for Q’s Best Breakthrough Act gong and made an appearance in MTV Brand New 2017 list. We interviewed the boys and watched them at the Deaf Institute last April, and they have only gone from strength from strength since. The Reading quartet are a great band live, we highly recommend you check them out, this gig will be huge for them. Hunt down some face value tickets as this is a sell out.

 

Lady Gaga | 06 Feb | Arena
Lady Gaga’s fifth studio album ‘Joanne’ was released October 2016. The European leg of the ‘Joanne’ World Tour has been fully rescheduled this year. It relaunched in Barcelona last month. She’s up for two Grammy awards for Best Vocal Pop Album for ‘Joanne’ and Best Pop Solo Performance for “Million Reasons.” If you haven’t seen a show from the US diva before you can catch her at the Arena on the 6th of this month. PARTYNEXTDOOR | 8 Feb | Academy
Following the release of his highly anticipated 2017 mixtape Seven Days, the Infinity Tour will see PARTYNEXTDOOR perform hits this February, with support from Jessie Reyez. The successful singer, songwriter and producer rocketed into commercial success with his debut self-titled mixtape with hit single Over Here featuring Drake. From this PARTYNEXTDOOR has worked with the likes of Future, Drake, Travis Scott and Rihanna featuring vocals, songwriting and producing on a number of singles.

Kendrick Lamar & James Blake | 10 Feb | Arena
Kendrick Lamar has been touring his ‘The Damn Tour’ across europe. The next leg of the tour brings him to the UK this month and runs through to March. His recent album ‘DAMN’ has been another critical and commercial success. Following his powerful Grammys performance, the gig at the Area is expected to be huge, with James Blake supporting, it is one not to miss. Last few tickets available.

Franz Ferdinand | 13 Feb | Albert Hall
Indie legends Franz Ferdinand come back to The Albert Hall! The band release their new album ‘Always Ascending’ this month. The first single, and title-track, from the album is out now, get yourself to the Albert Hall to hear it live. The gig is already sold out but you can join the waiting list here.

Seal | 14 Feb | o2 Apollo
Ever since appearing in the video for Killer by adamanski as a spinning severed head, Seal has been all over the world belting out his tunes with his voice of an angel. Everyone’s favourite is probably Kiss from a Rose, from that terrible Batman movie soundtrack, and with good reason – it’s a bloody belter. He’s got plenty more hits knokcing about and you can hear them all on Valentine’s Day at the Apollo if you want to. Tickets are available here;

FOUR TET LIVE | 15 Feb | Old Granada Studios
Presented by The Warehouse Project, Four Tet play a live set at the wonderful Old Granada studios. Prepare for his intricately woven mix of beautifully warm house music, pulsating techno and flutterings of ingenious sampling. The live show comes just after album release ‘New Energy’. The gig is going to be massive and is of course sold out but you can add yourself to the waiting list or have a look on Twickets.

The Sherlocks | 16 Feb | Victoria Warehouse
Four piece indie/rock band The Sherlocks from Sheffield, consisting of two sets of brothers are back in the city headlining a gig at Victoria Warehouse. Having supporting to bands such as Twisted Wheel, The Buzzcocks, Reverend & The Makers, The Enemy, Scouting for Girls and Simple Minds. Their music is often described as ‘upbeat‘ and ‘bodacious’, with ‘thrashing vocals’ and ‘rhythmic guitars’. Grab a ticket here.

Lewis Capaldi | 16 Feb | Club Academy
Lewis is another one from BBC Music Sound of 2018. The Scottish singer self-released his debut single, a raw and compelling Piano ballad called ‘Bruises’ in 2017 and saw it shoot up the spotify charts. He toured with Rag ‘N’ Bone Man last year and is now on the road headlining his own gigs. Check him out at The Academy on the 16th.

Khalid | 17 Feb | Academy
19 year Khalid, old breakout pop-soul and R&B singer with a lovely, leathery voice and a knack for big, breezy sing-songs. Khalid combines a voice that sounds made for classic soul with cutting edge music. His debut album, ‘American Teen’ was released early last year. He is one to watch out for this year, check him out at the Academy on the 17th of this month. Its a sell out so keep your eyes peeled for face value tickets.

 

Kelela | 18 Feb | Academy 2
Following the release of her debut album ‘Take Me Apart’ in October, this show at Academy 2 comes in support of the new record with special guest Tiffany Gouche. Kelela has been crafting clever combinations of R&B and electronic music since her daring debut ‘Cut 4 Me’ and the new album delivers a sophisticated collection of future-forward pop that hangs tight to the signature brutal honesty that separates her lyrics from the usual platitudes we hear in songs about both love and heartbreak.

Wolf Alice | 20 Feb | Gorilla
Wolf Alice are back in town! Wolf Alice bring BRITS Week show to Manchester for the first time since 2015! They’ll be here on 20th February! The series of gigs, traditionally held in London, gives fans the chance to see the biggest names in intimate venues while simultaneously raising money for War Child UK. Rex Orange County | 24 Feb | Gorilla
Rex Orange County, aka 19-year-old Alex O’Connor, from Haslemere, Surrey. Originally a drummer, Rex decided that his talent was better suited at the front of the stage. He has played live with the likes of Frank Ocean and Skepta. BBC Music have him down as sound of 2018 so he is definitely one to watch out for.
