With decade-spanning record boxes in tow, two of Britain’s most esteemed house honchos arrive in town tomorrow to remind us why small venues are better.

The Roadhouse is a funny old place. Its layout isn’t perfect for straight up club nights, but despite its predisposition for the live scene promoters flock there with nocturnal events aimed at post-midnight hedonists. It would be confusing, if you’d never attended on a good day, when the atmosphere inside is tangible, or if you were unaware of its impressive history.

With those selling points it’s not surprising the folks behind Hold It Down are currently calling this well-established address home, utilising it as a dancing HQ where they can put their experience gained from sessions in caves, on boats, and, amongst other places, a Fallowfield bar to good use. If you’re new to these guys, then guests like Inland Knights, Slum Science, and Set 2 should tell you something about their penchant for sound, with grooves and drums taking in the spectrum of sound between disco to Chicago beats.

Friday April 6th will see the crew throw arguably their biggest soiree to date in this venue (or any other), as non-other than Classic Music Company co-founder Luke Solomon (who runs the imprint with Derrick Carter), and Swag member (not to mention all round British underground hero) Chris Duckenfield have both been invited to play. Between them they have made it from the early days of acid through to today’s far more organised scene, meaning they could probably show most of us how to have a proper shindig. Needless to say, we wholly recommend checking out the following mixes, one from Boiler Room and the other from our friends in London The Idiots Are Winning, before following this link to buy some tickets.
