Wilderness down in Withington is a record store with a difference. Small but perfectly formed, this trendy little bar-come-record store is jam-packed with a range of fantastic records and is run by a fabulous team of music-crazed experts.
Taking over the old Deco Records on Egerton Crescent in Withington, Wilderness aims to offer a one-stop shop for all things vinyl – as well as a fully stocked cafe serving up some tasty toasties, coffee, tea, cakes, craft beers and plenty more.
Expect new releases; re-releases of classics; and carefully curated second-hand vinyl, such as Balearic, yacht rock and Japanese and French imports, with a strong focus on supporting and showcasing local labels.
The guys at Wilderness not only know their stuff, but they are always up for a laugh and they want you to join in the fun. They will be running a monthly competition to win a record, but they want you to let out your artistic side.
Each month, Wilderness will choose a record cover. It could be iconic, obscure or just plain funny and all you have to do is get your mates together or put your Photoshop skills to the test and recreate it in the most creative (and amusing way possible).
If your submission is chosen, you will win the record (or something else from the store of your choosing up to £30) with a unique sleeve with the winning artwork you can treasure forever!
Team Finest will be joining in the fun every month too which means you will never be the worst entry – so get involved and join in the fun.
The first record Wilderness wants you to recreate is certainly a classic, they want you to have a go at making Abbey Road – the 1969 album by The Beetles. Check ours out below…
Best of luck!
