Extended Eat Out to Help Out
After the most difficult three days to get a booking, each and every week, the Eat Out to Help Out scheme is now over. Sorry everyone. But actually, wait – there are some Manchester restaurants who have decided to continue the scheme into September – and I salute them for it. When I say “some” I actually mean quite a few – and so I’ve created this list of all the places who have extended. Enjoy.

The Manchester Restaurants Extending ‘Eat Out to Help Out’ in September

Hit & Run present ‘Sit & Bun Session’ at Freight Island
Thursday 3rd September
The Hit & Run crew are back and because this will be a socially distanced performance, they’ve called it ‘Sit & Bun’. Clever. Bringing the best in ‘Mancunian Neo-Soul & Hip-Hop’, they’ll take over Freight Island with an evening of LAYFULLSTOP live, The KTNA live and Hit & Run stalwart Rich Reason on the decks. It’s FREE buy you’ll need to book a table and so you need to choose the right slot for who you want to see. The KTNA start at 7.15pm while LAYFULLSTOP start at 9.15pm.

HOME Opens
Friday 4th September
About bloody time. The city has been a whole lot less fun and interesting while HOME has been away but this Friday sees them fling their doors open once again. Theatre performances are off (for the time being) but the cinema is open again and so will the restaurant and bar. Check out their impressive range of movies on offer including a brand-new release of Flash Gordon in 4 glorious k’s.

FORM – A Celebration of Contemporary British Sculpture
From Saturday 5th September
The Say Hay Gallery’s first ever show dedicated solely to sculpture is also their first show in months due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It’ll include work by some of the most acclaimed artists working th the UK today and I expect our resident art expert – Richard Morris – will be there to check things out and report back on how great it is. If you can’t wait until then – head on down yourself and stop being lazy.

Manchester Union Lager at The Refuge Terrace
Saturday 5th September
Manchester Union Lager are once again taking over the terrace at The Refuge, providing a weekend full of sun (hopefully), good times (definitely) and fantastic frosty lagers (almost certainly). There’ll be music from Chris Maude, Martin Brew and Mark Hogg and most importantly the best bloody lager you can get within a 30 mile radius. Oh, and The Refuge’s ace food to top it all off.

FREE Screening of Mulan at YES
Sunday 6th September
AboveTheLine continue their FREE cinema screenings in The Pink Room of YES this week with the brilliant Mulan on Sunday – perfect for all the family. I’m presuming they’ve chosen Mulan because the new remake will finally be released this week too over on Disney+, but with a whopping £20 price tag – it’ll be cheaper to take your little sprogs down to YES instead. And it’s probably a better film.
