I put up a list of the best rooftop bars in the city a couple of weeks back and the one at Brickhouse Social NWS is on there – primarily because it’s bloody lovely up there – and dry! They’ve got a pretty big socially distanced party up there this weekend which you should probably go to, with special guest and WHP resident Olli Ryder, alongside Craig Harrison, Aitchque and more.
“Be Right Back” @ Band on the Wall
Friday 31st July & Saturday 1st August
Band on the Wall will be closing next week until 2021 while they have a bit of a spruce up, so they’ll be having a closing weekender on Friday and Saturday. On the Friday there’ll be a live session on their outdoor stage from local jazz-soul vocalist Kike, followed resident DJ Jamie Groovement. On Saturday there’s live sets from neo-soul jazz musician, Mali Hayes, plus local Afrobeat-inspired jazz group Agbeko. Headlining on Saturday is Manchester club legend Mr. Scruff!
GRUB presents BURGER FOOD FAIR

GRUB will be hosting a super-special annual burger-themed food fair this weekend, offering up “100% wall-to-wall burgers” – who could argue with that!? They’re promising to have every sort of burger you could ever think of, and with street food vendors like What’s Your Beef, Wallace & Sons and Tikka Chance On Me there – you’ll be spoilt for choice. What’s Your Beef actually do some of the best burgers you’ll ever taste so they’re worth the trip up to the Green Quarter alone.
Eat Out To Help Out

A few weeks back our Chancellor of the Exchequer announced a new scheme that would hopefully help businesses get back on their feet and get people out and spending money again in the UK’ bars and restaurants. It’s basically 50% off meals up to a tenner. Will it work? Yeah it should do. Maybe. I dunno. Anyway, a weft of Manchester’s venues will be taking part and so the best thing to do is to grab your wallet, grab your jacket and get out and spend some money.
Bougie Drag Bottomless Brunch

They’re using a picture of Juno Birch on the event page for this ‘bougie’ Drag Bottomless Brunch and I was going to protest, but lo and behold they’ve actually managed to get her in for it! Very impressive. This monthly brunch has been voted the No.1 best drag day out – as you are entertained by queens Tayce & Cara Melle, as well as the aforementioned Juno, alongside DJ Smiley Virus on the decks. The rest is pretty self-explanatory – brunch dish + bottomless booze – easy.
Spanish Brunch at La Bandera
Saturday 1st & Sunday 2nd August
Another bottomless brunch for you here but you probably won’t find any drag queens here – well, it’s unlikely anyway. Instead you’ll be treated to some absolutely fantastic Spanish brunch dishes, including the famous ‘egg, ham and chips’ beauty that is Huevos Rotos. Pair this with bottomless Cava or Spanish lager and you’ll be having the best time of your life. Guaranteed.
Urmston Artisan Market
Saturday 1st August
The Urmston Artisan Markets return this Saturday with over 100 stalls, all selling their wares – from art to food to drinks to crafts – there’s bloody loads of stuff on the go. Oh, and there’ll be live music too so you can have a shuffle along while you’re walking about spending some bunce.
BLM Protest @ St Peter’s Square
Sunday 2nd August
Organised by All Black Lives UK, this #BlackLivesMatter protest will be taking place at St Peter’s Square from 2pm – 5pm. If you want to go down and show your support then head on down – be sure to take a mask with you though, and some water to keep yourself hydrated. If you don’t want to go down that’s fine – you can still show your support at home by checking out their social channels…
