If you listen to Manchester after dark carefully, you’re bound to hear the name Crazy Pedro floating on the breeze alongside a number of other bonafide city centre institutions. As the paired back and to-the-point website explains, “we love to party all the time”, although it’s important to point out the vibe here is unique. As laidback and lackadaisical, and as focused on truly legendary pizzas, as it is hedonistic and debauched, the action runs every night well into the early hours, making this one of few places in town you can easily still find yourself drinking on a Monday morning.

No table service, no attitude and — ideally — no worries, the best way to begin at Crazy Pedros is with the refreshments. And there are plenty. The range of Margaritas is beyond impressive, so vast they need separate menus. From classic, Tommy’s, Mezcal, seaside and banana, to the spicy margs house verdita with coriander, mint, jalapeño, pineapple and tajin chilli, and Sangria with basil, tomato, grenadine, hot sauce, guava and sea salt. Not to mention the frozen ones — classic, strawberry, kiwi peach punch, and French (with black raspberry and pineapple).
These gems aside, there are also plenty of beers and wines, soft drinks, and agave and non-agave based cocktails being poured, so take your pick, and that’s before we mention those pizzas. Pedro’s World Famous Hot Dog Pizza, The Godfather, Kimbo Slice, Guiseppe’s Not Sloppy He’s Vegan, Triple X and Di Lusso Pedro speak volumes about how unique the menu is here, which has helped cement its status as one of the city’s best spots for topped pies, with a range of sides also served. Throw in one of the best atmospheres this side of Mexico, lunch deals (two slices and a soft drink for £6, or £7 with a beer) and Happy Hour running 5-9pm Sunday to Friday, and it’s no wonder this joint is so well-loved.
