A short walk from the restaurants and cafés of Didsbury Village, Didsbury House offers a stay that’s more refined townhouse than typical hotel. Set within a grand Victorian villa, this 27-bedroom property blends classic architecture with contemporary interiors and just the right amount of luxury.

From the moment you step through the original tiled porch and onto parquet floors, there’s an unmistakable sense of character. Vintage trunks, velvet seating and curated artwork fill the communal spaces, while statement wallpaper and bold lighting add personality to every corner. The hotel’s design – overseen by owner Sally O’Loughlin – is playful but polished, with rooms varying in layout and style depending on where in the house you find yourself.

There are five room types in total, from Snug and Cosy to Comfy, Luxe Junior Suite and two top-floor hideaways: the Boudoir Suite and the Opus Loft Suite. The latter is a decadent retreat with exposed beams, lounge area and a pair of roll-top baths set side-by-side. Even at entry level, rooms come stocked with Bramley toiletries, fresh milk for your tea and coffee, and high-quality linens on handmade pocket-sprung beds.

For guests keen to linger indoors, a snug bar, welcoming lounge and leafy terrace offer calm spaces for cocktails, afternoon tea or late-night drinks. Food-wise, a classic menu of well-executed crowd-pleasers – burgers, fish and chips, salads and steaks – is served until 10pm, with 24-hour cold snacks also available.

Breakfast takes place in a light-filled panelled room downstairs, with a continental spread plus à la carte cooked options like eggs Benedict or a full Irish. Meanwhile, the hotel’s in-house Treatment Room offers a selection of massage and beauty therapies using essential oils and botanical products.
