Herveda is as contemporary and cutting edge as it is traditional and rooted in age-old practices. Situated on Port Street, one of the Northern Quarter’s more prominent roads thanks to a number of iconic independent shops, venues and drinking holes, in contrast this place is all about beauty and wellness. It’s also one of the few places in the city we know committed to Ayurvedic practices. An ancient Indian medical system, treatments are based on aeon-spanning writings and teachings, and rely on natural remedies and holistic approaches to curing ailments and assisting clients.

While this can be applied to a number of healthcare settings, in terms of beauty Ayurvedic basically means you won’t be putting anything that disagrees with Mother Earth on your skin. Founded by Nicole Fitzgerald, the concept stems from her own experiences and personal journey to take back control of skin and hormonal changes. Finding profound benefits in the type of remedies this school of thought advocates, she was keen to share this with people in the North West and beyond who have an interest in living better through what the planet can provide.

Herveda is about the actual treatments but also the philosophy behind them. A range of skincare options are available, with personal consultations usually the best place to start for most customers. Alongside specialist products, Nicole also has a range of educational resources available on-site and to take home after sessions, which can help promote further learning, healing, discovery and transformations. The experience stays with people long after they leave the studio. At a time when so many are craving a reconnection with nature and something beyond the plastic and synthesised, we can’t imagine a more relevant and vital way to guarantee you keep those good looks for years to come — inside and out.
