Morning Glory is exactly what its name suggests: a bright, buzzing start to your day that refuses to be anything but unapologetically Manc. The first solo venture from content creator and foodie Zack Hipps, it’s pitched as a love letter to the city, and the details tell the story. From the honey-yellow palette nodding to the worker bee, to the Hacienda-inspired diagonal floor, and even the cheeky edge to its name, it’s a place that couldn’t exist anywhere else.
Food and drink here are rooted in both comfort and personality. Bagels are the main event, brushed with garlic butter, baked again until golden, and drizzled with honey-thyme before being stacked high with fillings that bounce between classic and creative. Expect combinations like grilled peach with goat’s cheese and chilli jam, roast chicken with smoked garlic mayo, or vegan-friendly tofu and hummus. Then there’s the sweet side: a twist on the Manchester Tart, developed with Ancoats’ Vanillis bakery. Creamy, jammy, finished with a cherry on top, it’s a nostalgic nod turned into a signature.
Coffee comes courtesy of London’s Dark Arts, known for their rich, punchy roasts, while Kyoto Matcha supplies the vibrant green powder behind their hot and iced matcha lattes, flavoured with syrups like Earl Grey or raspberry. Together they give Morning Glory’s drinks list a little extra intrigue, offering options beyond the usual caffeine fixes.
Inside, the space is deliberately compact, with just a dozen seats, encouraging a grab-and-go rhythm that suits busy city workers and weekend wanderers. The counter dominates, piled with bagels, tarts, and coffee beans, everything chosen with intent and a focus on supporting independent makers. It’s fast, it’s fun, and it’s fuelled by a genuine sense of community.
