Sipp is the kind of place that feels instantly at home on Beech Road. Laid-back, friendly and quietly confident, it’s run by Zak and Haseeb – two mates who first cut their teeth serving coffee from inside General Stores in Ancoats before taking the leap into their own bricks-and-mortar space.
The café takes over a spot that already meant something to them (they originally met working here), and that familiarity shows. There’s a sunny front terrace for people-watching, plus a tucked-away garden at the back that comes into its own on slower mornings and warmer days.
Food-wise, Sipp keeps things simple but well-executed. Brunch staples are done properly rather than reinvented – think golden, indulgent French toast, solid smashed avocado, and one of the menu highlights: Middle Eastern–inspired mushrooms on toast, finished with harissa, tahini and pomegranate for colour and punch. It’s unfussy food that looks great and eats even better.
Drinks are where Sipp really leans into its personality. Alongside well-made speciality coffee, the menu includes mushroom lattes and matcha made with adaptogenic mushroom blends, designed to support focus, energy and immunity – without tasting like mushrooms. There’s also a strong following for their iced matcha flavours (sour cherry, blueberry, coconut and raspberry) and superfood smoothies, which have earned them plenty of regulars.
