We are The Italian. Based here in Romiley, Stockport and family ran since 1987.

Open evenings only, we are lively and busy everyday with such a mix of people. Families, couples, groups of friends: all are welcome!

We specialise in rustic proper Italian home cooking. Slow cooked sauces, big flavours, fresh seafood, grilled meats, traditional Italian antipasti and street food dishes.

Pizzas are very popular here, but we are known mainly for our pasta. Certain dishes like Linguine Vesuvio and our Gnocchi Zuccotti have become almost like cult dishes and are very very popular.

Also very popular is our cocktail menu. Each cocktail is made with an Italian spirit or liquor and there are a few fantastic flavour combinations such as a pistachio martini and also a cocktail where we mix Prosecco, elderflower and italian lemon gin with Italian white truffle oil.

Started by Ferdinando Mercogliano in 1987, the place is now ran by his son Alessandro. Following the family tradition and building on his fathers love of food. Now a grandfather, we are building the next generation for the business!
