Worsley may be best known for its leafy walks and picture-postcard charm, but tucked beside the historic Delph lies one of Greater Manchester’s most quietly celebrated dining spots. Housed in a striking black-and-white Grade II listed building, Tung Fong has been part of the fabric of the village since 1989 — a testament to both its quality and consistency.
The family-run restaurant was established by Tony Ng, who brought with him decades of experience from Hong Kong’s kitchens. That background is evident in every part of the Tung Fong experience. From the moment you step inside, the balance is clear: eastern tradition meets smart western execution. Think crisp linens, calm lighting, polished service, and food that’s comforting and elegant in equal measure.
Tung Fong’s menu stays close to Cantonese roots, favouring deep flavours, fresh ingredients and clean presentation over gimmickry. The crowd-pleasers are there — crispy aromatic duck, sizzling beef dishes, salt and pepper everything — but they’re delivered with a level of refinement that sets the place apart. Seafood is a particular strong point, as is the range of delicate dim sum and beautifully executed vegetarian options.
The restaurant itself is generous in scale, seating around a hundred guests, yet never loses its intimacy. Tables are well-spaced and the service team runs with precision and grace. It’s a place that feels just as suited to a quiet dinner for two as it does a big family celebration.
