Waterside is an award-winning, vibrant destination for performance and culture in Sale, Trafford, Greater Manchester, welcoming over 100,000 visitors through the doors every year.
For almost two decades, we have built a strong reputation for delivering high-quality and engaging work, including captivating family theatre, interactive arts activity and a programme of varied performance and visual arts.
We are bold and ambitious: connecting with audiences and especially families through the cultural LGBTQ+ celebration Pride in Trafford and Refract: ‘see things differently’ festivals.
Our diverse family friendly programme encompasses theatre, dance, puppetry, film. We offer free craft workshops, encouraging creativity and participation. We host a week long musical theatre summer school during the school holidays, every year.
Waterside is a welcoming and inclusive space for all shapes and sizes of family; we offer ‘relaxed performances’ toning down loud noise and lighting effects and take a gentle approach to movement and noises, and also BSL interpreted shows. We are committed to creating accessible creative engagement for everyone, with lots of free and subsidised ticketing options for low-income families.
In addition, we work with schools to offer educational opportunities; welcoming groups to the venue to foster learning experiences and an appreciation for arts.
