As part of the pre-launch campaign for its new leading beauty retail concept, Selfridges created a mobile photographic and make up studio in a 50ft bespoke Airstream.  Stationed in Exchange Square, a team of international hair and make-up artists, including Giorgio Armani Cosmetics and MAC Cosmetics, hosted a series of makeovers of women who have been selected in a street casting to discover the new faces of Selfridges beauty for an Autumn billboard and taxi promotional campaign.

The new beauty hall at Exchange Square in the city centre is a first for a UK luxury store, Selfridges beauty and accessories hall will be located on the lower ground floor.  Visitors will be greeted by a panoramic 360 degree view of the new area in the remodelled store as they enter via a glass atrium designed by globally renowned retail architects HKHM.

Currently under construction, the beauty and accessories hall will be home to internationally renowned beauty and accessories brands and will officially launch in October.

Jayne Demuro, head of beauty, said: “Today has been a fantastic! The campaign is about celebrating the beauty and style of Manchester women, in all their unique and irresistible northern glamour.

“We’ve had a great turn out and lots of fun with members of the public who dropped by. We have invested £20m in Exchange Square and part of creating this major campaign is to encourage visitors from across the region to visit Selfridges Exchange and the city of Manchester.”

Tomorrow the campaign will continue in Albert Square, outside by the town hall.

Jayne adds: “So if you fancy finding out what goes into making a first rate advertising campaign, check out the Airstream in Albert Square, all flashbulbs blazing, from 10am to 5pm. You may even get the chance to be spotted and invited to take part if you’ve got what it takes!”
