The San Antonio Spurs and New Orleans Pelicans will face off at Co-op Live next January…
The NBA is coming to Manchester for the very first time, with the San Antonio Spurs set to face the New Orleans Pelicans at Co-op Live.
The fixture will mark the NBA’s first ever regular-season game in the city, happening on on Sunday 17 January 2027, and only the second NBA game to be played in Manchester overall. It forms part of the league’s expanding programme of European games, which will also see the two teams play in Paris earlier that week.
Co-op Live, which opened last year beside the Etihad Campus, will host the event as basketball’s popularity in the UK continues to grow, particularly among younger audiences and across Manchester’s large student population.
“Playing games in Paris and Manchester reflects the strong momentum we’re seeing for basketball and the NBA in France, the UK and across Europe,” said George Aivazoglou. “As interest in the game continues to grow across the continent, we look forward to working with the Pelicans, the Spurs and our partners to deliver unique experiences for fans, aspiring players and the local communities.”
The game is expected to bring some of the NBA’s biggest names to Manchester, including French superstar Victor Wembanyama, who currently plays for the Spurs, alongside Zion Williamson and De’Aaron Fox.
In addition to the game itself, the NBA says it will host a series of community events and youth basketball programmes in Manchester in the build-up to the fixture, alongside fan experiences and interactive events across the city.
Tickets and further details are set to be released at a later date, though fans can already register interest through the NBA’s official channels.
