Stockroom is celebrating its first birthday with a huge three-day takeover packed with discos, storytelling, live music, creative workshops and community events across the venue. Since opening inside Merseyway last year, the Stockport space has become one of the town’s busiest cultural hubs, hosting hundreds of creative events alongside library services, workshops, youth nights and socials. The birthday celebrations kick off with the much-loved Dementia Disco on Friday evening, before Saturday brings the main party with the Stockroom Cake Off, giant games of musical statues, party hat making and a Guilty Pleasures Disco hosted by Women in Creativity. Sunday slows things down with special storytime sessions from internationally renowned storyteller Jan Blake and broadcaster Nihal Arthanayake, alongside live neo soul and jazz fusion from Midnight Matters, children’s puppet-making workshops and a calming Qi Gong taster session on the balcony.
