Victoria Baths – Creative Maker’s Fairs
Saturday 8th & Sunday 9th May
Victoria Baths are flinging open their (probably) antique doors this Saturday with a calendar of weekend Creative Maker’s Fairs brining in a range of stalls selling unique and handmade artwork, jewellery, ceramics, crafts and textiles. You’ll need to get yourself booked in before you arrive, with it costing you £3 for entry. It’ll be great to be back in this fantastic venue once again – I’ve missed walking around it – acting like I’m a Peaky Blinder. It does get cold though – so wrap up warm if you go there this weekend.

The Manchester Cheese Crawl
Saturday 8th May
This is what you came here for – a CHEESE CRAWL around the city. I mean, is there any better ‘crawl’ out there that you can think of? For £25 you get involved in an immersive 2-hour walking tour through the city, where you’ll learn and taste about all things cheese – including (of course) loads of cheese samples and best of all – PROSECCO! There are two slots throughout the day – 12pm and 3pm – both perfect for all you cheese lovers out there.

Mulan Drive-in Cinema
Saturday 8th May
Our cinema experiences still need to be socially distanced, and so these brilliant drive-in events are still going on around the city – in this case – near the Trafford Centre at EventCity. The weekend will see them showing the new version of Mulan on Saturday, and The Greatest Showman on the Sunday. Just buy a ticket, drive there, drive up, sit in your car and enjoy some serious big screen action. Mulan is alright too – not as good as the cartoon version, but then again – they never are.

Stockport Maker’s Market
Saturday 8th May
Taking place in the old Victorian Market Hall in Stockers, this Maker’s Market will bring together an eclectic mix of traders, selling quality fresh food, goods and collectables for anyone willing to brave leaving the house on a weekend. The whole thing kicks off at 10am and will keep going until 4pm – more than enough time for you to try and haggle 6p off the price of an apple because you spent it on a burger with Deliveroo earlier in the week.

Elizabeth Gaskell’s Secondhand Book Sale
Sunday 9th May
If you’ve struggled to think of a reason to have a look around the lovely Elizabeth Gaskell’s house in Victoria Park – here’s your chance… the city’s “best second-hand book sale”. There’s going to be two rooms packed full of secondhand books of all genres – contemporary fiction, art, gardening, photography, classics, maps, history, cookery and even children’s books – although kids nowadays probably don’t (or can’t read) due to all the tablets flying around.

SIT&BUN with Rich Reason & Konny Kon (Children of Zeus)
Monday 10th May
Like all events organisers and promoters over the last 12 months – the HIT&RUN lot have had a very difficult time of it. This last year did give them time to get creative though and they came up with ‘SIT&BUN’ – a twist on their classic formula – tweaked for an audience that is required to sit down and can’t get close. They’ll be bringing their unique brand of urban and hip-hop tunes to Freight Island this Monday, with Rich Reason being joined by Children of Zeus’ Konny Kon for a FREE evening of guaranteed belters.
