Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
All Week
I’m a massive fan of pantomimes – mostly because they’re usually so shitty that they’ve gone all the way round to actually being rather genius. I went to watch Peter Pan a few years back at the Opera House, the one with David Hasselhoff as Captain Hook and it was brilliant. The Hoff was pretty hammered throughout but it made the whole thing 10x better and 1000x funnier. This year sees Craig Revel Horwood don red lippy and a cloak as the Evil Stepmother in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. I don’t know who he is but I’m sure it’ll be good.
Carol-oke @ Bar Hutte
All Week
I was in here this week and had an absolutely brilliant time so thought I’d share the wealth and let you know all about it. You know that bit next to the John Rylands Library? The little square? Well they’ve transformed that into little ski chalets which you can book out and then drink too much mulled wine. The best thing though is that they have Christmas karaoke in them. It’s the BEST time you can have. Ever.
Marble Annual Release Day (with Christmas Beers!)
Sunday 1st December
Marble Beers are having a family fun day this Sunday and they’re promising plenty of beers (obviously), food and even some live music to get you into the Christmas spirit. There’ll be food from The Curry Den and Will’s Kitchen, as well as DJing by Andy Makin with funk, soul, jazz and disco. But what we really want to know about is the beer. The CHRISTMAS beer. They have a Chocolate & Hazelnut Stout, some Barley Wine and what sounds like the best beer of all time – Imperial Chocolate & Candied Orange.
Coca Cola Truck
Monday 2nd – Tuesday 3rd December
Holidays are coming, holidays are coming. What better way to celebrate Christmas than to completely give yourself over to consumerism and visit the Coca Cola truck? You know the one from the adverts? Get drinking some full-fat Coke’s and Santa might even bring you a new set of teeth for Christmas – what a nice man. I don’t actually know what you do when you go to ‘see’ the truck – are there games or something in the back?
Six @ The Lowry
From Tuesday 3rd December
The story of Henry VIII’s wives. But in song. Sound good? Well, this week sees the launch of ‘Six’ at The Lowry – and it’s exactly that – a remix of five hundred years of historical heartbreak all condensed into “a 75-minute celebration of 21st century girl power.” So, there’s that Anne Boleyn one, all the Catherine’s and even that sour one who had to put up with the fat bastard when he was dying. I’ve heard it’s pretty mega – go check it out I say.
The Quiz @ The Bay Horse Tavern
Tuesday 3rd December
I could put this brilliant quiz in my Things To Do every single week. It’s mega. Not only are the questions and rounds usually thoroughly entertaining, but you can also enjoy the whole experience alongside some Thrice Cooked Chips or some Pigs in Blankets. Oh, and the rollover jackpot prize currently stands at a whopping £500. Win it and you’ll have a great Christmas I’m sure.
