Bluedot presents: A Weekend In Outer Space Live 2020
Friday 24th – Sunday 26th July
This weekend last year I was heading down to bluedot, setting up a tent for about 2 hours and then proceeding to have a bloody great time with my future wife. We ended up heading back home after Kraftwerk on Saturday because we were just too partied out – and there’s nothing better than waking up in your own bed after a festival. Well, this year it’s not happening, but you can still enjoy it without actually leaving that bed – as bluedot present to us… A Weekend in Outer Space. It’s an at-home festival (that’s FREE) and the line-up is MEGA. Check out all the details below…

Welcome to Freight Island
Friday 24th July
There’s been a LOT of buzz about Freight Island over the last few weeks and this Friday is the day that people can officially go inside and see what all of the fuss is about. You can still book yourself a table on their website, there are tables available from Saturday 25th. What should you expect? Well, they promise “a brand-new urban landscape with food markets, art spaces and terrace style seating” with food from Ramsbottom favourite Baratxuri, Voodoo Rays, Madre Tacos and more.

Backyard Bushcraft Training
Saturday 25th July
I was thinking about this last night in bed. Wide awake I was thinking about the film (and book) The Road, and how if the end of the world happened – I’d be disastrously unprepared. Being an active participant in the year 2020 too – I don’t think we’ve ever been closer to everything going to complete shit and we have to fend for ourselves. Step up this event on Saturday. A chance for you to learn Bushcraft for yourself – ensuring your survival should you get stuck in the woods or end up in an apocalypse.

Brunch with Bottomless Food & Drinks at The Pen and Pencil
Saturday 25th July
One of the best Bottomless Brunches in the city returns this weekend! Yay! The reason this is one of the best is because not only do you get yourself bottomless booze, but you also get bottomless food too! You can tuck into endless dishes while smashing down the Prosecco and it’s absolutely fantastic. They’re operating on a reduced capacity in here at the moment (like everywhere really) so you’ll have to be quick to get yourself booked in before everyone else.

The Makers Market @ MediaCity
Saturday 25th July
The ever-popular Makers Market is returning to MediaCityUK for the first time since lockdown began, and you should expect the usual mix of award-winning food vendors, artisan bakers, crafters and even live music – this weekend from independent record label Stutter and Twitch. It’s well worth a nice stroll around – especially if the weather is good – which, depending on what website you look at ranges from sunny, to raining to thunderstorms. They don’t have a bloody clue do they?!

Whitefield Festival Community Cinema Club
Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th July
The Whitefield Festival is still going ahead this weekend and they’re running a rather impressive Community Cinema Club – featuring all of your favourite musicals for you to sing along to. Naturally they’re showing the Greatest Showman, Mamma Mia and Mamma Mia 2 – but you’ll also be pleased to learn that they’ll be showing the excellent Hairspray too – certainly one of the best musicals in the last 30 years. Sunday sees them showing Pretty Woman too – so if you like big mouths and bad acting – you’re in luck.

Social Avenue presents: Mason Garden Party in a Car Park
Sunday 26th July
Social Avenue have secured themselves a car park in Trafford for the next 6 weeks and so they’re putting on some proper good socially distanced club ‘nights’ – which take place during the day – hence the quotation marks. This one on Sunday will feature Manchester-based DJ and production trio – Mason Collective – who will be bashing out the House and Techno all afternoon and into the evening.
