The Ancoats pub serves up a range of four different roasts from Rolled Pork Belly to Beef Rib for two. Each comes with beef dripping roast potatoes, glazed seasonal vegetables, Yorkshire puddings and gravy. Don Giovanni
You might not expect an established Italian restaurant to offer up a Roast Dinner but Don Giovanni like to do things differently, and this lockdown – they’re also available for takeaway and delivery. It’s a pretty impressive offering, with a choice of lamb shoulder, chicken supreme or tenderloin beef, plus all of the trimmings – including some rather massive Yorkshire puddings and Don Giovanni’s special gravy.
The Lowry Hotel @HOME
The height of 5-star luxury, any stay in The Lowry Hotel will leave you feeling like a celebrity, seeing as both Lady Gaga and Cheer have stayed here – you’d be in good company too. Unfortunately for those two ladies, they didn’t stick around long enough to try the Lowry’s fantastic Roast Dinner – a Sunday afternoon delight of epic proportions. Well, as part of their @HOME delivery service, you can now get the Sunday Roast delivered straight to your house, with everything 80% prepared for you and ready to go.

Quite easily one of the best Roast Dinners in Ancoats, if not the whole city, Elnecot have made a name for themselves over the years on the back of the quality of their roasties and Yorkies. Lockdown isn’t going to stop them either, as they’re now offering takeaway dinners on a Sunday (12:30-18:30). All you need to do is text or WhatsApp their Roast Dinner ‘Hotline’ – 07412 574324 – and go and get it. Don’t forget a bottle of wine and/or vodka to go with it!
Sunday Roast Collection at The Lead Station
I’ve always said that if you live in or near Chorlton – you’re spoilt for choice when it comes to brilliant Roast Dinners. In fact, there’s SO much choice that sometimes it can be almost too stressful choosing where to go – potentially ruining the very nature of a ‘relaxing’ Sunday. Hear it from me now though – go to The Lead Station – who are offering roast dinner collections during lockdown. All you need to do is order before 10pm on Friday and then go pick it up on Sunday. There’s roast beef, chicken, pork belly or a chestnut & blue cheese wellington available, plus a nut roast for vegans.

Vietnamese Sunday Dinner with NAM
An inspired South-Asian twist on the classic roast complete with sticky rice, Gỏi salad, stir-fried oyster mushrooms and greens. You choose from Half Roast Chicken with NAM’s signature rub or a 5 Spice & Soy-braised Tofu and the whole thing is topped with Pho Gravy and a huge Vietnamese doughnut! This will come as welcome news to the hundreds of people who flock to Volta on a Sunday to tuck into their outstanding roast dinners – lockdown will not stop them from feeding you – so stop worrying. Just get your pre-orders in (use the link below) and you can go and pick up what is one of the best roast dinners in the whole of Manchester – to devour in your own household in front of the telly with some beers.
Sam’s Chop House
Well-known throughout the land for serving up excellent roast dinners for years now, Sam’s Chop House might look a bit old school but they’ve seemingly employed a young whizz-kid to drag them into the 21st Century with an online shop featuring nationwide delivery on many of their dishes. Of the selection you’ll find a couple of beaut Roast Dinners, including their 28 Day Aged Rump of Beef, 12-Hour Brined Roast Chicken and my favourite – the Slow-Cooked Crispy Pork Belly – all coming with all the trimmings.
Roast by the Loveable Rogue (April 2020) at Home-X by Six by Nico
Six by Nico launched their new home delivery service named Home-X in lockdown – and even though it sounds like something out of a comic book it is in fact an all-encompassing selection of different food and drink offerings. There’s their Home by Nico box, cheese deliveries, wine deliveries and best of all an option a Sunday Roast delivery service. ‘Roast by the Lovable Rogue’ has the option for roast chicken or sirloin of beef all served with cauliflower cheese, roast potatoes, honey glazed root vegetables, vegetable écrase and Yorkshire pudding. You also get a caramelised cauliflower and apple veloute to start and a pear and vanilla custard trifle for dessert. YUM.

Nora’s Kitchen
For those around the Chorlton area, you can grab a roast from Nora’s Kitchen (usually in Chorlton Tap) via contact-free deliveries. There are five roasts to chose from including roast gammon, beef, pork, lamb shank and chicken breast. Each comes with all the trimmings of course! Plus there’s a pretty impressive vegan menu including tofu schnitzel, haggis wellington, beetroot ‘black pudding’ croquette, mushroom pie and homity pie. Delivery starts at 1:30pm on Sundays.
Hawksmoor
If you’re after a massive slap-up dinner at home, you can opt for Hawksmoor’s Roast Boxes. They come absolutely packed full of all the good stuff including 35-Day Dry-aged Roast Rump and all the trimmings. You can also opt for a box with booze, a bottle of Quinta da Boa Esperanca and the Ultimate Dry Martini. Of course, there’s also an apple crumble with custard too. They sell out well in advanced so you’ll need to be organised with this.
Peruvian take on a classic Sunday Roast by Peru Perdu
Serving up the classic dish packed full of Peruvian flavours, choose between Churrasco Picanha (beef), Pollo la Brasa (chicken) or Chimichurri Cauliflower with Truffle Gravy (vegan). All served with a host of sides. You can also add on the Dulce De Leche Cheesecake with meringue and plenty of wines and cocktails.
Roastline
Like a hotline but for a Sunday roast delivery. From the team behind the fantastic Bread & Bowl, The Roastline operates between 3pm and 8pm every Sunday (last orders at 7pm). You’ll get a choice between Rosemary and Lemon Roasted Chicken, a weekly changing meet or a Goats Cheese, Mushroom and Caramelised Onion Wellington – there’s a cheese-less vegan option too. ‘Elite Bistros’ from home from Hispi Bistro in Didsbury who are already well known for their roasts. They’ve got a large menu for takeaway including Aubrey Allen’s 35 day-aged sirloin steak served with glazed carrot, cauliflower cheese and red sauce to share. You can add on cauli cheese, tenderstem broccoli and purple carrots.
