This week saw Manchester-based developer Views submit an application for 30 apartments and 9,000 sq ft of retail and leisure space on Stockport Road. The development comes hot on the heels of a similarly designed project over on the Curry Mile.
The plans include 10 one-bedroom and 20 two-bedroom apartments, plus nine commercial units on the corner of Stockport Road and Swallow Street directly opposite the ASDA in the large unused spot bordering Siddall Street and Pennington Road.
Patrick Sheridan, senior development manager with Views, said: “We are very excited about our plans for 764-786 Stockport Road.
“The site has been empty and underused for a number of years, and our proposals will deliver much-needed new homes and commercial space. We think it will be a sensitive and successful addition to the area which has an established, vibrant, diverse and welcoming community.
The design is envisaged as three buildings which step down from four to two storeys to tie in with the buildings on either side. Views said that high-quality materials, large areas of glazing and refined detailing will “deliver a building of merit”.
