Set to open in March 2022, Beeswing is a collaboration between wine expert, Anna Tutton (the Founder of wine bar Vin-yard, previously at Hatch) and Joe Maddock (of West Didsbury favourite Pinchos tapas bar fame) who’ve been working together on pop-up supper clubs.

Named after the crust formed on old wines, which resembles the wing of a bee, Beeswing is the newest addition to the ever-growing Kampus site, a trendy new space slap bang in the city centre with serene views of the canal.

This intimate garden neighbourhood has secret streets, gardens and terraces, as well as some of the best independent food and drink Manchester has to offer.

Beeswing will serve a rotating list of delicious and interesting wines from small producers across the world.

With all wines available by the glass, carafe or bottle, wine lovers will be able to try out some lesser-known wines, alongside old favourites in a laid back environment. For Kampus residents looking to grab a bottle on their way home, there’ll also be a wine shop.

Inspired by the neighbourhood bars seen on their travels, the duo will offer light bites and sharing plates throughout the day, all big on flavour and using fresh, local ingredients.

With seating indoor and out, the bar, shop and all-day eatery is set to open in March 2022, serving breakfast until late, plus lunch and post-work supper until late.

Tutton said: “We want Beeswing to be a real neighbourhood bar, a warm and inviting place where you can come and enjoy a glass (or two) of wine and an hour turns into several without you noticing.

“We’ll be serving simple but delicious food, all day long, with an ever changing menu using the best fresh local produce. Being alongside like-minded independent businesses in the amazing surroundings of the garden neighbourhood is what attracted us to Kampus and we can’t wait to be part of the community.”

Located above Nell’s, the New York Pizza and Bar which opened its doors this month, and overlooking the Kampus garden, Beeswing is set to join a growing community of independent operators at the neighbourhood being developed by CAPITAL&CENTRIC and HBD, with Manchester favourites Pollen bakery and General Stores also confirmed.

Adam Higgins, co-founder at CAPITAL&CENTRIC said:

“This isn’t going to be some stuffy wine bar with intimidating wine lists. In true Kampus style it’ll have a super relaxed vibe offering something a bit different to what you get elsewhere. It’ll also have Kampus’ very own wine shop where residents can come and grab a bottle on their doorstep.

“With Nell’s pizza and bar already open, Pollen and General Stores coming early next year and now Beeswing, we’ve already got a really nice mix of indie businesses in the Kampus neighbourhood – and we’ve lots more to come!”

Residents have already moved into the one and two bedroom apartments in the beautiful red-brick new building North Block and refurbished 1960s brutalist tower called The Stack. With North’s sister building South Block and two Victorian shipping warehouses, Minto & Turner and Minshull House now available to view.

Residents at Kampus have access to a brand new gym with free weights, cardio and core equipment and a yoga studio, a 24 hour concierge service and amenities from dog walking, dry cleaning, PT sessions and yoga, a private cinema, lounge, dining room and a number of terraces. What’s more, residents can move into their brand-new apartment with no deposit to pay.
