Hello Oriental
Saturday 12th February
The wait is finally over! After around a year of waiting, Hello Oriental is finally set to open on Circle Square, and I assure you – it’ll be well worth the wait. This place has SO MUCH under one roof; a new food market and dining hall, offering fast and fresh Chinese and Vietnamese cuisine, alongside a modern Chinese bakery and on-site supermarket – serving a vast array of international products and ingredients.
Ashby’s Greengrocer
Tuesday 1st February
A traditional greengrocer is now open in Sale’s new Stanley Square. The old 60s concrete monstrosity has been stripped back and looks absolutely fabulous now, and it’s set to be home to an impressive roster of bars and restaurants. Ashby’s stock organic, fresh produce, as well as lunch offers, a salad bar and daily soup specials.
The Mekong Cat
Open now
After months and months of planning, The Mekong Cat will finally open their doors in Stockport this February. An authentic Southeast Asian Noodle House, The Mekong Cat is located right in the heart of the town centre – right next door to Double Four Records on Lower Hillgate. We’re very excited for this one!
Campagna at The Creameries
Thursday 3rd February
What? The Creameries isn’t a new opening. Yeah, okay – I know it’s not – but this month sees them re-launch with a brand new concept and menu – all watched over by Head Chef Mike Thomas. It’s now called ‘Campagna at The Creameries’ and it’ll focus on Southern European country cooking; think fresh pasta, bar snacks, focaccia, and some seriously good low-intervention Italian wines to wash it all down with.

The Green Lab NQ Studio
Monday 7th February
Open to the public from 7th Feb, The Green Lab NQ’s studio will offer a range of fitness classes including Reformer & Mat Pilates, Barrecore, Yoga, Mobility and more. What’s more, they’ll also be offering 50% off fitness classes and 30% off reformer Pilates classes if you buy before they open. So you’ve got until Monday 7th to get your orders in!
Homeboys Pizza
February TBC
The legendary Homeboys are currently re-fitting out their upstairs area so that you can have a proper sit down with your pizza and enjoy alongside some drinks too. This will be great news for the people of Eccles and Monton, mainly because their pizzas are truly excellent. In addition, we’ve also heard a little rumour that they’ll be expanding the menu to include lasagne – which would be truly amazing if true.
The Butcher
Wednesday 2nd February
There are a lot of buzzwords and phrases flying around when they talk about ‘The Butcher’ and his burgers, and I’m sure it’s not all just hyperbole. Now open inside the ‘Urban Playground’ on the top floor of the Arndale Centre, The Butcher has already impressed the likes of Amsterdam and Ibiza with their burgers – so Manchester shouldn’t be too different. I suppose we will head down at some point to give them a go – and, naturally – let you know what they’re like.
Another Hands on Deansgate Mews
Week beginning 22nd Feb TBC
The team behind the wildly successful, and frankly outstanding, 3 Hands Deli on Deansgate Mews are opening up their very own restaurant just three doors down from the deli. There’ll be a meat-free menu (for the most part) and whenever they do have meat, it’ll come as a whole animal, respectfully using every last bit of it. Oh and an exclusively natural only wine list.
Le Social Wine Bar
Open now
Is this the smallest wine bar in Manchester? If not then there must literally be centimetres in it, because Le Social have transformed their Pollard Yard shipping container into a spot where you can sit and enjoy their excellent wines and tuck into some nibbles. They’re open for wines and plates every Saturday – just make sure you book because, as you’d expect, space is always limited in there.
Salvi’s Deansgate Square
February TBC
Salvi’s, one of the city’s very best Italian restaurants, have managed to secure themselves a stunning new spot in the swanky Deansgate Square development – and they’ll (hopefully) be opening their doors this month. It’s 3,000 sq ft of Italian delightfulness, complete with a weather protected and heated terrace providing year-round outdoor and indoor dining.
Kong’s Diner at Dog Bowl
Open now
After blowing us all away with some seriously tasty chicken sandwiches, and indeed the world’s first Fried Chicken Roast Dinner, Kong’s Chicken Shop have now taken over the kitchens at Dog Bowl with a new American diner concept. Alongside their signature fried chicken you’ll also find burgers, a banging Philly Cheesesteak and even Nashville Fish & Chips!
Corner Slice
February TBC
The Failsworth massive is coming to the city centre. No, you don’t need to hide all of your valuables – you need to get them out – because this is Corner Slice, the team behind probably the greatest Detroit-style pizzas you’ll ever taste outside of the Motor City. They’ll be opening a new dark kitchen in the city this month – meaning you can get these amazing pies delivered to your house – if you’re within ‘the radius’ that is.
Farm & Fish
February TBC
In collaboration with Monton favourite Wandering Palate, the Butcher’s Quarter presents ‘Farm & Fish’. It’s an “Artisan Butcher, Fishmonger & Tasting Room” that sees them expand their already impressive selection to include fish (obviously from the name), which will all be sustainably sourced off the British coast. Plus, local, seasonal vegetables that can all be enjoyed indoors or outdoors.
This Godless Place
Open now
Another brand-new addition to Stockport and I wont lie, this place actually opened up at the end of Jan and not February. Sorry to lie to you like that. No bother though, because they’re now open and have their kitchens fired up serving tacos, grilled cheese sandwiches, mac and cheese and burgers.
