Board Game All-Dayer
Saturday 8th February
I doubt you’re going to find anyone playing Buckaroo at this board games day, so if that’s what you’re expecting – don’t bother. Pop-Up Pirate is a no-go too. And Hungry Hippos. If that’s what you want – just head on over to Argos and go wild. Instead this Board Game All-Dayer will feature a choice of over 250 proper board games, mostly those enthralling, modern ones where you have to save the world from a killer virus or end up building a self-sustaining civilisation with just a few wooden pegs and some tiddlywinks. I also expect that there’ll be a bit of Dungeons & Dragons going on here – so if you’ve always wanted to give it a try – now is your chance.

Tobe Hooper All-Dayer
Sunday 9th February
As part of Grimmfest’s monthly all-dayer events, February sees them host a Tobe Hooper day, with 4 of his most favourite films being shown throughout the day. You can buy an All Day Pass which includes them all or just pick the ones you want to watch (for £7.50 each). Who is Tobe Hooper I hear you ask? Well, does the Texas Chainsaw Massacre mean anything to you? How about Poltergeist? Yeah – you know now. He’s also responsible for the epic Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 which is a film that everybody should see – if only for the simple fact that it is shit.

The Brooklyn Social (with the King of Beer)
Sunday 9th February
This weekend sees a true legend arrive in the city. A man who has been dubbed the ‘King of Beer’ because of his involvement as Brooklyn Brewery’s Brew Master – Garrett Oliver. He’ll be heading to Wolf At The Door for an evening of rare and exotic Brooklyn brews and food from their new menu. You’ll get to sit down with Garrett and chomp down on some grub while tasting some beers – pretty much the perfect Sunday really. There’s going to be some form of after-party going on at some point too – so maybe book Monday off.

Make A Scene – The Oscars 2020 Live Screening
Sunday 9th February
It’s Oscar night on Sunday and as you’re tucking into a massive Roast Dinner at your mams, Brad Pitt will be getting his pores filled in, Renee Zellweger will be getting sewn into a dress and Joaquim Phoenix will be polishing off his scathing acceptance speech. It’s Hollywood’s biggest and best day and even though it looks like Joker won’t win as many gongs as all those Batman nerds think it will – it’s pretty much a shoe-in that Phoenix will be picking up Best Actor for it. The talented and impressive team at Make-A-Scene will be putting on an all-singing, all-dancing LIVE Oscars screening on Sunday evening complete with cocktails, food, games, performances and soooo much more!

Thriller Live!
From Monday 10th February
After that HBO documentary that came out last year, I’m not entirely sure that anything relating to Michael Jackson is appropriate to enjoy anymore, a fact that seems to be completely glossed over by this musical which is heading to the Palace this week. Controversy aside, if you still enjoy listening to ‘The King of Pop’ and like seeing someone dressed as him prance around on stage – then this is for you. I’ve heard it’s actually a pretty decent show, so don’t feel too bad if you actually want to go and watch it. Go and have some fun.

The BIG Midweek Music Quiz @ Wilderness Record Store
Wednesday 12th February
This week will see a new quiz hit us squarely in the jaw, but it’s not just any old quiz – this is a music quiz. So, if you’ve watched every single Top of the Pops since 1963, bought every album that Chief Ebenezer Obey has released, and know just how many times Sting says the word ‘Roxanne’ in the song – then this quiz is for you. Because it’s held in a record shop, they really mean business here so you’ll need to do some serious swotting up beforehand if you want to do well and win some prizes (vinyl and bar tabs).

Free Curry & Conversations with ‘No Such Thing’ @ Kabana
Thursday 13th February
Taking place in the brilliant Kabana on Thursday, No Such Thing is a rather unique event – one which involves a free curry in exchange for half an hour of conversation. It’s been going on every month since 2012 and was part of ‘Seven Sites’ a project developed by Laura Mansfield and Swen Steinhauser. If you fancy having a one-to-one chat with someone, perhaps about what’s happening in the world or things that are on your mind – then get involved in this. A free curry is nothing to be sniffed at either.

Friday 14th February
Okay you lot – best get your arses into gear and decide what you’re doing for Valentine’s Day. It’s THIS bloody Friday! I know most people say that they’re not bothered and that they think it’s all a swizz, but in my infinite wisdom let me tell you this – they’re lying. Everyone wants something on Valentine’s Day – so just bite the bullet and sort it out. If you’re single, then we might just have something for you. On Friday we will be going LIVE on our social channels to offer the chance for you to have a date with one of 3 lucky people! We’re paying. Click below for more details…

Single Folk, who wants a date on us this Valentine’s Day?

Hounds of Love @ Hatch
Friday 14th February
One of the main reasons I’ve put this event in is because it gives me the perfect excuse to get a nice little picture of a lovely little dog in here. Look at him being a really good boi. It might be a girl though. I don’t know – I’ve not actually had the pleasure of meeting the dog and getting it to cock a leg for me. Anyway – this event at Hatch is rather inspired – and looks like a great chance for anyone who is single (and doesn’t want their mug all over Instagram) to find love. Take your dog down there and meet other dog owners who are looking for love – sort of like speed dating but with animals.

An Evening with Paul Gascoigne
Friday 14th February
Probably the most interesting footballer to ever grace the pitch, Gazza will be hosting an evening at Altrincham FC this week – a chance for him to regale you with some great stories and also a chance for you to ask him some questions yourself. He’s a bloody legend – so this will definitely be a top night.
