I don’t know what happened but in the past 10 years there’s been a resurgence in bar games.

I mean yeah sure, my grandparents loved darts, and my dad is basically Ronnie O’Sullivan. But me? I’m too competitive at the best of times, put a beer in me and I’m scared to think what I’m capable of.

That was until the new wave of sports entered bars, and by that I mean Beer Pong. I’m not technically sure you can call it a sport but it involves a ball and I’m pretty sure that’s how you define a sport.

It also involves drinking and screaming at your mates till they finish downing their drink. Which I think might just be any sane persons two favourite hobbies. I think anyway. Here’s our favourite places to have a game…

Dive NQ
Wanna get fancy? I’ve got two words for you: Prosecco Pong. It’s like the game your mum plays on a wild weekend away with the girls. Let’s be honest, beer can just mean you get full-on bloat, so loosen it up with some Italian bubbles instead eh?! I’m not entirely sure it’ll mean less bloat but Prosecco drunk is the best kind of drunk.

Twenty Twenty Two
Obviously top of the list is Manchester’s best and biggest Ping Pong bar. Ping Pong isn’t a particularly difficult thing to do but sometimes it just requires a bit too much concentration – especially after one-too-many cocktails. That’s where beer pong comes in, literally just lob the ball. At the end of the day – the aim of the game is to get pissed, so just lose. It’s easier.

Crazy Pedro’s
I don’t know if I need to give you another reason to believe that Pedro’s is one of the best bars in Manchester but maybe the fact that they also offer up beer pong might just sway you. So get down, get a slice of pizza in one hand, a beer in the other and somehow figure out how to throw a ping pong ball across a table in some sort of perfectly arched and aim throw. Also just to throw it out there, Crazy Pedro’s do a ‘Beer Pong’ pack for 8 quid, complete with 8 American red cups, 2 ping pong balls and a whole host of Crazy Pedro’s stickers.

Bunny Jackson’s
Everybody’s favourite late night spot is Bunny’s. It’s just chilled, there’s no messing and most importantly, a guarantee of no pretentious guys in suits. The folk down at Bunny’s are that easy going they’ve even been quoted saying play ‘brandy pong if you want‘. Do whatever you want, but please, for the love of God get some chicken wings.

The Shack Bar & Grill
Beer Pong is available all-day, every-day at Shack in the NQ. You can get 6 bottles of Hop House for just 20 quid too. There’s also a basement filled with about 10 TVs, perfect for when the footie’s on. Oh and you can build your own burger at this place. It basically has everything you need for a boozy, food-filled, sporty Saturday.
