This walk is around 9km and features a bit of up and downhill walking, nothing too strenuous. It’ll give you cracking views of the Reservoir and Goyt Valley including the forest which currently looks amazing with a trickle of snow!

I don’t think this is an official walk but there are over 20 of those to choose from here.

Park in the Pym Chair car park on Windgate Road, heading left out of the car park and left again when you reach The Street this to kick off the walk. Follow the road down until you reach another small car park/lay by where you will see a gate and fingerpost sign.

Head through here and diagonally left up the hill following the sign marked ‘Errwood’. Continue following along the narrow track with the cracking views of the forest on your right and reservoir on left.

The path will come to a stone wall with a gap in it, go through and head right keeping the wall on your right and heading down the slope that was ridiculously muddy.

Eventually, you will meet at a junction where you can continue on or head down the woody path on your right, head down here and follow the path where you will cross a small footbridge.

Once you reach the next large field continue straight with the river running along your left. This will go slightly uphill until you meet the river, cross and head back on yourself continuing up the hill on the obvious path.

Eventually, you will reach a small gate and footpath sign, in the distance, you’ll have cracking views of the reservoir.

Head down the hill towards the reservoir following the obvious path which will come out at the car park.

Here you can add on the Errwood Reservoir walk if you want or head out of the car park, turning left and walking along the road until you reach Windgate Road and the car park again.
