A meal for 2 and a bottle of wine at Edinburgh Castle

Welcome to Ancoats’ newest addition and somewhere that blew our team away last week. Could they bring another Michelin Star to the city?

The consensus seems to be that they probably can do yes, as Chef Julian Pizer creates a true ‘experience’ – as each considered dish is a masterclass in attention, flavour and flair.

£150 to spend at Hawksmoor

Truly a class act, I’ve never not been hugely impressed with the food offering at Hawksmoor, as they serve up the city’s best steaks alongside some truly indulgent sides.

Their bar menu is also something to definitely write home about, with quite possibly the best Short Rib Nuggets you’ll ever eat in your life.

Dinner for 2 at the French

Adam Reid has taken a truly elegant and established restaurant in The Midland Hotel and made it his own, with a Modern British menu that’s difficult to beat anywhere else in the city.

This prize offers up a chance to taste their 3 course menu with a glass of sparkling wine on arrival, 2 glasses of matched wine & tea/coffee with chocolates.

A 7 course tasting menu for 2 at La Bandera

The city’s ONLY Canarian restaurant, and one of the best tapas venues to boot, La Bandera is a small, independent, family run restaurant that manages to continue to hit all of the high notes, while still providing an intimate and friendly experience.

Their Tasting Menu will transport you straight to the Canary Islands, with a mainland twist.

A 5 course meal for 2 at Wolf At The Door

One of the newest restaurants on this list, Wolf at the Door have been serving up some truly spectacular dishes since opening up in the Northern Quarter in the Autumn.

Inspired by the eateries and drinking establishments in Copenhagen, chef James Lord has created a menu of small plates, each with it’s own story (and long list of elaborate ingredients). You’ve never tasted BBQ Lamb Skewers like theirs, I assure you.

A 7 course tasting menu for 2 at Wood

Simon Wood, winner of MasterChef 2015, opened WOOD two years after his victory and the restaurant has been drawing in the crowds ever since. It’s a true foodie haven, with both an A La Carte menu and a rather impressive 7-course Tasting option available.

The Tasting Menu will take you on a journey through Simon’s development as a chef, featuring many of his favourite flavours and ingredients of the season. There’s always a few cheeky surprises in there too.

A 9 course tasting menu for 2 at Restaurant MCR

Headed up by Aiden Byrne, Restaurant MCR offers up a spectacular 9-course tasting menu with some seriously creative dishes on there.

The Pigs Head Croquette is outstanding, and you’ll be bowled over by his Partridge – a seasonal delight all the way from over the border in Scotland.

A meal for 2 at The River Restaurant inside The Lowry Hotel

The newly refurbished River Restuarant in the 5* Lowry Hotel are offering a 3-course meal for two this Christmas. Not only is the restaurant brand-spanking-new but so is the menu – featuring some seriously impressive ‘Signature’ dishes from Head Chef Dave Ashton.

I sound like a savage but their bread and butter is a MUST, especially with the Sun-dried Tomato Butter and Cheese Custard. Oh and his Lamb is to die for.
