When Manchester United legend Eric Cantona first announced he would be swapping the football pitch for the stage, we were sceptical.

The 57 year-old had already acted on stage and screen and starred in music videos (most notably in Liam Gallagher’s video for Once), but singing? We weren’t sure.

However, two sold-out shows at Manchester’s Stoller Hall last year proved us wrong. Faithful reds and curious music fans alike enjoyed his first foray into musical endeavours, as he took to the stage with just himself, a modest piano and a cello.

Now, United’s iconic number 7 is back with a string of live dates across the UK and Europe in 2024 for his Cantona Sings Eric tour. His first two singles, The Friends We Lost and Tu Me Diras, are set to be followed by two more singles and the forthcoming release of a live album.

He will play at the Palace Theatre in Manchester on Saturday 20 April 2024. General tickets for Cantona Sings Eric go on sale on Friday 26 January at 10am.
