This year for Christmas, Deansgate Square is transforming into its own traditional Nordic forest, taking inspiration from the likes of Norway, Sweden and Finland.

The Forest, which sits at the centre of the Renaker development, will feature more than 250 real trees, with a jaw-dropping 20 foot Nordmann fir tree decorated with fairy lights and baubles at its heart.

Venturing inside the Forest, visitors will find wooden tipis and stretch tents where they can sit back, relax and enjoy the enchanting, vibrant atmosphere, which will be enhanced by stunning snowfall projections.

Winding pathways will lead festive explorers to pop-ups from some of Manchester’s most popular commercial operators, including European eatery and wine shop Atomeca, Salvi’s Italian restaurant and deli and more.

Running over two weeks, from this Thursday 8th December to Thursday 22nd December, The Enchanted Forest will also host a wide range of festive activities for children and adults alike, such as forest fairies and gonks hide and seek, a decoration making workshop, and a lantern parade.

Away from the Forest, the commercial operators at Deansgate Square will be providing Christmas treats from their own premises, too. This includes:

  • A selection of treats from General Store’s Winter drinks menu, including; gingerbread lattes and flavoured hot chocolate.
  • Delicious Irish Coffee from Atomeca, and Kentucky Fried Calamari with Matcha Aioli, Chilli, and Coriander Cress, Robata Grilled Sweetcorn with White Miso Foam and Black Sesame, or Sushi Platters from Kitten.
  • Or why not join Salvi’s at their Poretti Piaggio this Christmas, complete with cosy wooden huts and blankets to keep you warm while you enjoy a mulled wine, hot negronis or Poretti on draft. You can even try a selection of their Christmas specials including pizza with nduja, gorgonzola and honey, rum baba in a cup, or the quintessentially Italian Christmas treats of pannetone or pandoro by the slice, all served with Nutella and pistachio cream.
  • Nonna’s Italian pop-up at Deansgate Square also offers the perfect spot for any boozy festive weekend with both an all-day menu and a bottomless brunch. Serving up big heart pasta dishes, there’s also a list of cocktails and desserts to enjoy alongside each dish.
