An Evening of Homemade Northern Charcuterie, Paired Craft Beers & Top Tunes

Taking place at Bernie’s Altrincham store, the evening will give guests a first hand experience of the traditional processes of charcuterie making.

Taking place next Friday the 22nd July, Manchester’s independent grocery store, Bernie’s is teaming up with North by Sud Ouest Charcuterie for an evening of freshly made charcuterie, booze and mint tunes. 

North by Sud Ouest began is headed up by chef, Andrew Rogers who began the business after cheffing across France. Whilst he was there, he made the likes of ‘boudin noir(a.k.a. black pudding) – and various saucissons, but it wasn’t until he came back to Britain that he extended his culinary skills to include cured and fermented meats such as Coppa, Culatello, and Chorizo.

He’s currently based in the Wirral and works alongside traditional butchers Edge & Son, who provide the majority of his meat. The self-taught charcuterie chef sees the craft as an extension of cooking, and is looking forward to bringing his dishes to the city next week. 

Taking to Instagram he said: “We’re teaming up with Bernie’s Grocery Store in Alty for an evening of charcuterie-bants, beer and choons. There will also be some delightful garnishes to complement my products that I promise will be worth the trip on their own!

“You’ll also get the chance to learn some details about the traditional processes of my charcuterie making as part of a relaxed, family style meal.”

 

On the evening, you get the chance to sample separate menus, the Tasting menu and the Family Style menu…

TASTING MENU
Rillettes, Cornichons, Lardo on Toast, Nose to Tail Terrine, Coppa, Cured Pork Loin, Saucisson Fennel and Aleppo Pepper Saucisse Sèche, Ventreche and Goula, all handmade by Andrew. 

FAMILY STYLE MENU
A larger selection of Smoked Aubergine, Yoghurt, Tahini, Sumac, Marinated Roasted Red Peppers, Kale, Almonds, Nduja, French Peas with Cured Loin Lardons and Lovage, Chopped Salad with Urfa Chilli and Sourdough Bread. 

Tickets for the event cost £45 per person, and also include paired beers with the dishes. The evening will run from 6.30pm – 9.30pm and there’ll also be a DJ spinning a selection of tunes all night long, too.
