Northern Quarter is set to welcome gaming bar, Calcio next week, slotting nicely into the city’s already popular scene.

Joining the likes of NQ64 and Pixel, Calcio will open just in time for the Winter World Cup, showcasing all of the upcoming games, alongside a menu of burgers and pub classics.

The venue has teamed up with What’s Your Beef Burgers, a burger business run by two pals from Rochdale. The company sources its meat locally to create proper tasty grub, including the Double Bacon and Cheese, Fiery Bull, Stateside Deluxe and more.

And what’s a gaming bar without an epic menu of drinks? Once open, Calcio will have a huge selection of draught and bottled beers, as well as wines and curated cocktails that give a nod to the bar’s nostalgic theme.

What sets Calcio apart from the rest, though, is its focus on retro football. The venue will house classic international football shirts on the walls that will vary throughout the year, turning the venue into an art gallery for sportswear enthusiasts.

Alongside this, each booth in the venue will have its own gaming console, ranging from either a Mega Drive, SNES, PS1, N64, PS2, Xbox Original, PS3 or a Xbox 360 (Kiosk).

The games will be a unique mixture of old classics like Street Fighter, Pro Evolution Soccer and Fifa, so make sure you leave your competitive pals at home!

Across the weekend, Calcio will show live sport in its Northern Quarter venue, but also classic matches when live sport isn’t on. Guests will have the option to choose what they watch in their individual booths.

Not forgetting about the party vibes that go hand in hand with any good gaming bar, the venue will also feature DJs every weekend spinning a selection of cross genre hits for those after a good singalong.

Calcio opens its doors this Friday on Dale Street in Northern Quarter.
