If you want to spend your nights out doing something more fun and a little more challenging than steadily two-stepping in some dark underground bar to some techno, you are going to be obsessed with NQ64.

Opening today on Short Street (next to Crazy Pedros), NQ64 is a brand new basement bar which is adorned in glow-in-the-dark graffiti and filled to the brim with all sorts of arcade machines, dance machines and consoles with all your favourite games from your childhood.

If you want to get your game on and make all your 80’s & 90’s dreams come true get stuck into a game of Guitar Hero, Point Blank, Mortal Kombat 3, Street Fighter II or Golden Axe.

If you want to go down the classic retro route, you can have a game on Pac-Man, Space Invaders or the famously difficult Donkey Kong.

As for the consoles – choose between an N64, SNES, and every 90’s cool-kid favourite the Mega Drive. All of which will come with a ton of games in which to spank your mates at including Mario Kart, GoldenEye and the brilliant Streets of Rage 2.

Alongside all of these games, NQ64 also serves up a range of beers on draft as well as a fantastic selection of cans, spirit-mixers and a retro-themed cocktail menu which is appropriately colourful and named after 80’s games.

Make sure you get involved with the Root Beer Tapper and the glittering vodka and gin-based Galaga complete with edible glitter and light up ice cube – it was like something you would get served up in the Star Wars Cantina Bar, so it fits the vibe perfectly.

All this is set to the backdrop of classic hip-hop in a dark and neon clad environment. Entry is free and all you have to do is buy the tokens which cost just £5 for 15 games of your choice. Consoles are FREE to play but you should buy a drink first.

Team Finest popped by this week for the soft launch and it is safe to say we had SO much fun. NQ64 brought out some serious nostalgia vibes as well as a vicious competitive streak in some people.

NQ64 opens officially today so get yourselves down there for a bit of booze-fuelled fun which is bound to make you feel like a great big kid!
