La Bandera
The owner of La Bandera, Yashin, absolutely loves his wine. Whenever I go down there to get a bit of tapas action, we’ll end up chatting and then he’ll get his MASSIVE wine list out and pour over all of his newest and best stock. And indeed, he knows his stuff, with a wine list that’s the envy of many a bigger restaurant in the city, with a dazzling array of smaller, independent wineries from Spain and the Canary Islands available. For a true taste of Spain, you can’t go wrong.
ERST
The team are ERST are back and that can only mean one thing – gorgeous natural wines are going to be flowing down my neck very soon. Oh wait, it actually means TWO things, because they’re also offering collection of some of their dishes, which are just as good as the wines – if not better. Back to the wines though and there’s an impressive selection of rare and hard to find bottles on offer – and some really special ones indeed.
Wolf at the Door
Food-wise, Wolf at the Door are offering up a Taco Kit every Tuesday – meaning you can re-create their tacos at home – finally! On the booze end of things though, they’re also offering delivery and collection of their range of specially selected natural wines – so you’ll have something to wash all those tacos down with.
Higher Ground
This place on KAMPUS, just at the top of Canal Street, suffered particularly badly when the COVID-19 pandemic started – they’d only been open around two bloody weeks and it all kicked off and they were forced to close their doors. People lucky enough to get in before they did close though would have found some outstanding dishes and some great wines, which, luckily for us – are now available for delivery too.
Vinyard
Hatch’s resident wine experts have been offering a bottle delivery service ever since the start of lockdown, and they are a wonderful resource for all us people who enjoy getting sloshed out in the garden or on the balcony. There are around 200 different bottles available, or you can get yourself one of their specially created cases. Whatever you get – you’ll be happy I’m sure.
Isca Wines
This brilliant Levenshulme establishment are offering ‘Wine and Provisions’ delivered straight to your door – so you might as well ignore those ‘provisions’ and just concentrate on the wine instead. There’s a surprisingly impressive selection of bottles on offer – many of which are natural and something you’re never going to see on the shelves at ALDI. They also do some rather mega looking cheeses too – I suppose you might as well get some provisions too.
Evuna
Evuna have recently launched an online wine shop offering nationwide delivery and it’s perfect for anyone looking for some of the best Spanish wines imaginable. They even do bottles of Cava too which I personally prefer over Prosecco any single day of the week. Get yourself a couple of bottles, make a Sangria and chill in the garden.
Salut Wines
Salut are offering free nationwide delivery on their cases of wines, and they’ll even do it next day if you get your orders in early enough. They’ve got a massive selection on offer, with wines from all over the world and in every colour imaginable. They’ll do you a selection of 6 world-class wines so you don’t need to sit around thinking about what to get – the experts will do it for you. Which is nice of them.
Club Vino
A bit of a different one this, Club Vino is a Wine Tasting Club that you take part in from home, so they’ll send you a package which contains a themed case of 6 or 12 bottles, printable tasting notes with food pairing suggestions, printable glass markers (which are useful for when you have different wines open at once), and a video link that guides you through the wines and tells you the story behind each bottle – exactly as if you were at the event.
