A bar concept with a twist will be open up in Manchester next week… the twist being that it won’t be serving any alcohol.

Love From is a pop-up that will set up shop at the bungalow venue at Kampus, turning out a range of alcohol-free cocktails, as well as alcohol-free events for the sober, people who are just off the booze, or the ‘sober-curious’.

It’s aiming to ‘provide all the buzz of being in an amazing bar without the alcohol’, and will feature live music, a tasting masterclass with alcohol free spirit brand Lyres, and an art workshop and cocktail tasting with Manchester artist Caroline Dowsett among the planned events.

Behind the project is Karl Considine, host and founder of the What Next podcast and ambassador for Alcohol Change UK (ACUK).

“I have spent the last 10 years in Manchester and have always been very social out and about in the city centre but when I stopped drinking in Jan 2021 that sharply came to halt, for the right reasons at the time,” he told Finest.

“I still go to bars, pubs and clubs etc but I thought ‘why not create something that doesn’t exist today, something that people like me would benefit from’.

“Little did I know we would get the response we have had since announcing the pop-up and actually, it’s not just sober people like me that are keen to hang out in an alcohol-free bar, it turns out so many other people from all different walks of life also love it and want to come down!

“My dream is for the pop-up to be a huge success, prove that people can have fun in a bar without being fuelled by booze and then from there find a permanent venue and immerse ourselves as a destination venue in Manchester’s incredible hospitality scene.”

On the bar menu will be cocktails developed in partnership with Lyre’s, Everleaf and Caleno, and alcohol free beers from Lucky Saint and Beavertown.

The pop-up will run from the October 12 to 22.
