All the way back in 1632, the people of Congleton in Cheshire decided to sell their bible and buy a bear with the money, and ever since then it’s been known as ‘Beartown‘. Taking on this mantle, the Manning family created Beartown Brewery back in 1994, cooking up craft cask beers using the very best in craftsmanship and flavours.
They continue this tradition today, blending age-old techniques and craft with a modern style, producing everything from traditional bitter and mild, to craft keg and lagers. And to celebrate a new look and set of beers, Beartown have created a city-wide treasure hunt, where you can get yourself a FREE PINT this Friday 29th July.
A number of billboards and bus stops across Manchester are currently displaying the image of Beartown’s iconic hot pink bear, complete with a QR code which you scan for an invitation to join the brewery’s founder, Joe Manning, at a secret location in the city on Friday 29th July where the beers will be on him. He’ll be pouring Inception, Beartown Brewery’s new session IPA.
This treasure hunt comes off the back of Beartown unveiling their brand-new, state-of-the-art brewery, as well as the addition of ‘The Den‘ a new taproom with space for 70, serving beer brewed just steps away.
Speaking on the northern Bear Hunt, Joseph Manning, managing director of Beartown Brewery said: “We’ve had our heads down in Congleton for the last few months getting our brewery back up and running after an extensive renovation and are finally brewing again.”
“In addition to the new brewery we have some swish new branding and I can’t wait to send the Beartown Bear out into Manchester and invite Mancs to join me for a pint on July 29th.”
