Dave Haslam celebrates the release of his new small format book Strawberry and The Big Apple: Grace Jones In Stockport, 1980, with a special in-conversation event at Wax & Beans in Bury. In the book, Dave unveils a seemingly unlikely scenario; the day in 1980 when glamorous jet-setting Grace Jones visited post-industrial Stockport to meet A Certain Ratio, with a view to working together. Worlds colliding!
Dave’s special guest for the evening is A Certain Ratio founder Jez Kerr. Together they will discuss the evolution of the band, their current renaissance, how New Order’s visits to New York clubs inspired the Haçienda and share insights into Tony Wilson, Martin Hannett, and, of course, the genius that is Grace Jones.
