Internationally acclaimed artist Jane Jin Kaisen’s first UK solo exhibition arrives in Manchester on Friday 19 January 2024. Halmang will take place in the historic Market Buildings, one part of the Victorian Smithfield Fish Market.
The exhibition connects its Mancunian location with Kaisen’s ancestral ties to Jeju Island, where her mother and grandmother made a living as haenyeo, the island’s women sea divers who harvest seafood from the ocean.
