Manchester Indian Film Festival returns for its 15th year, showcasing the best of South Asian film, with a packed programme of features, shorts, series, gaming and augmented reality projects to enjoy.
Stopping off for just over a week in Manchester from Wednesday 26 June to Friday 5 July, this year’s festivities kick off with an opening night at The Carlton Club, celebrating the legacy of South Asians in British music.
The following week of events includes a Q&A with prolific filmmaker Aparna Sen, who will chat about her incredible six decades in cinema. Festival highlights also include the return of Too Desi Too Queer, the festival’s LGBTQIA+ showcase, which encompasses a collection of groundbreaking queer short films as well as a women’s only screening of Pakistani film Wakhri, which centres on a widowed school teacher who becomes a viral sensation on social media.
