Manchester Museum will be hosting their annual Vaisakhi this Saturday, throwing a huge, all-day event in collaboration with the Manchester Sikh Foundation.
One of the biggest events in the Sikh calendar, Vaisakhi marks the formation of the KHALSA (the collective, physical embodiment of the Guru). The free festivities include art displays, meditation sessions and craft workshops.
Mayor of Greater Manchester Andy Burnham and Leader of Manchester City Council Bev Craig will be attending in the morning , and there will also be a martial arts demonstration in the afternoon. Visitors can also enjoy a Langar on the day – a free, nourishing vegetarian meal served to anyone regardless of religion, gender, status or ethnicity. It reflects love, equality and compassion.
