Yan Tan Tethera Farmer’s Market is back for its May edition, and this time it’s turning the dial up a bit.

On Sunday 31 May, the market returns as a full Food Festival edition, bringing together farmers, growers, chefs, drinks, music and a very strong line-up of Northern kitchens for a one-day celebration of the start of summer.

Already confirmed are Cafe San Juan, Erst, Freds, Stockport Provisions, Track Beer and Slice Culture Pizza, with fresh oysters, street food and more names still to be announced.

In proper Yan Tan Tethera style, each food vendor will be paired with one of the market’s produce stalls to create special one-off dishes built around what’s in season. Think chefs and growers side by side, swapping ingredients, cooking over fire, and leaning into a bit of creative chaos.

The market takes its name from the old Northern shepherd’s counting system, a nod to rural life, seasonal rhythms and the people who work the land. What started as a small, thoughtful farmers’ market has grown into a proper meeting point for farmers, cooks, artists and the local community.

Expect muddy boots energy, music in the air, cold beers, shared tables and plenty of very good things to eat. Food runs from 12pm until late-ish, with drinks, music and more still to be announced. Entry is free.
