BBC One’s successful consumer advice programme, Rip Off Britain, is returning for an eighth series – and is organising a special event at intu Trafford Centre offering consumers free practical advice and help.

Angela Rippon, Gloria Hunniford and Julia Somerville will be bringing the Rip Off Britain team to intu Trafford Centre for two days to open a Pop-Up shop where a team of experts will be on hand to offer problem-solving advice.

The team is excited to be coming to intu Trafford Centre and as Gloria Hunniford says, it’s meeting people face-to-face that’s so satisfying: “Myself and all the team at Rip Off Britain are real consumer champions, and we want to help as much as we can. There’s nothing better for us than doing that in person; so this is your chance to get practical advice and help – face-to-face – with our experts, and we really do get results. Come and join us, we might just have the answers you need!”

The Pop Up Shop will be open to visitors for two days – Friday 15th & Saturday 16th April 2016. You can drop in on the day, but the team are also keen to hear from people in advance who could then be featured in the new series.

Consumer experts will be there to offer general advice, assist with specific problems or queries – and give information to prevent consumers being ripped off.

And even if you haven’t got a specific problem you want solving – but just want to share on camera about what really annoys you as a consumer – from customer service to small print on your bills – we have our own gripe corner with a camera crew waiting to film YOU!

Experts include travel guru Simon Calder, who can assist with holiday queries; Sarah Pennells, personal finance expert who specialises in helping you keep control of your hard earned cash; and Martyn James, from the Financial Ombudsman Service, who is an expert in cases where the consumer feels like they’ve hit a brick wall with their bank, or other financial products.

We’ll also have solicitor Gary Rycroft, who can wade through small print to find out quickly if you’ve got a case to get your money back; Senior Trading Standards Officer Sylvia Rook, an expert in consumer rights. And for any problems with technology from your phone to your internet provider, tech expert David McClelland has all the answers.

The Rip Off Britain team will also be running a series of free, roaming advice sessions over the weekend where our experts will be chatting to shoppers about a number of consumer issues, sharing invaluable information and hints to help them to make better informed consumer choices.

Visitors hoping for advice on a specific problem on the day are strongly advised to bring along relevant paperwork, so the experts have all the information they need to try and help on the spot.

Consumers are also encouraged to get in touch with the programme in advance – no matter how big or small their gripe – by emailing channing.brankin@bbc.co.uk
