Screenfields’ Family Film Club launches in style this weekend with a double bill of films to entertain the little ones, with both screenings unticketed and free to attend.

Cars2 kicks off proceedings at 11am, followed by old classic Annie at 1.30pm, to celebrate local charity Brainwave’s 30th birthday.

The sequel to the incredibly successful Cars, Cars 2 doesn’t disappoint. Star race car Lightning McQueen and his pal Mater head overseas to compete in the World Grand Prix race. But the road to the championship becomes rocky as Mater gets caught up in an intriguing adventure of his own: international espionage! One for all the family.

To celebrate Brainwave’s 30th birthday, Annie will follow Cars2 at 1.30pm. A Broadway musical based on the Little Orphan Annie comic strip, the film concentrates on Annie’s adventures as she looks for a new family. With classic songs such as ‘Tomorrow’ and ‘It’s a Hard-Knock Life’, it’s guaranteed to have spectators swaying in their deckchairs!

Brainwave is a charity that exists to help children with disabilities and Developmental Delay achieve their full potential. That potential may be anything from helping a child walk or ride a bike to recognising colours or writing their name. The children it works with have a range of conditions including Autism, brain injuries such as Cerebral Palsy and genetic conditions such as Down’s Syndrome.

In addition to the screenings, face painting and balloon modelling will be taking place during Cars2. Families can kick-back on some deckchairs and enjoy watching the films in a relaxed atmosphere. There are a number of eateries to enjoy food and drink from, including The Alchemist, Southern 11, The Oast House, Giraffe, Nando’s, Gourmet Burger Kitchen, Carluccio’s, Strada, Wagamama and Australasia.
