The month is ending, and that can mean only one thing for the hordes who actually succeeded in their attempts at abstinence; the weekend is back as a thing of real importance. Of course Sankeys subscribed to that revelation long before everyone else, packing out their venue with a smorgasbord of talent that included Oliver $, Kerri Chandler and Glimpse through January, and cap it off with a humdinger of a double header for the final weekend. Brace yourself…
The canon of superlatives for Kissy Sell out was exhausted a long time ago such as been the ferocity of verbs, adjectives and nouns forced towards his direction in excessive hyperbole. But such literary love is not without good cause; Kissy’s genre defying mash-ups are planned with such meticulous precision and delivered with glorious charismatic swagger that cutting through all the talk about him is one undeniable fact; he rocks dance floors at every juncture.
Gloriously talented, much like Kissy he rips party starting sets built on eclectic genre hopping and jaw-dropping technical ability.
Joining him will be Madeon, the teenage French sensation who was heralded by no less a figure than Bestival supremo Rob da Bank as one to watch in 2012 for Time Out. Gloriously talented, much like Kissy he rips party starting sets built on eclectic genre hopping and jaw-dropping technical ability. Support is headed up by a face off form Mancunian parties Gold Teeth vs Juicy.
Saturday is something of a truly irrepressible corker, with a gloriously wide-ranging set of talent on offer. Headlining is Chi-town’s finest, the indomitable DJ Sneak, who brings his wide-ranging funk to the fore. One of the most durable of house music’s icons, Sneak has seen every fad and craze in dance music pass him by yet floated to the top each time; like the proverbial windy city cream. And tonight he is joined by his ‘brother from another mother’ Phil Weeks, the Robosoul lothario playing back to back with him for the evening. Yowzers.
Support comes in the shape of Circo Loco talismanic figure DJ W!ld, who’s swaggering house funk and gilt edged grooves will rock the club. Revered disco revivalists Bicep also make their Sankeys bow with a four hour set, the duo’s ingrained take on classic house, camper than camp disco and lashings of upfront techno all segued into a monstrous four hour set in Spektrum. International superstar in the making Darius Syrossian also spins, alongside Sankeys resident and Kaluki promoter Ellesse who completes the bill. Pure brilliance awaits for this last weekend of the month.
