J Dilla Changed My Life - 12th Anniversary at PLY

Saturday 10th February will see PLY paying homage to the genius that is the late, great J Dilla with an all-day party soundtracked by some of the Northern Quarter’s finest DJs spinning back to back tracks inspired by the man hailed by many as the best RnB and Hip-Hop producer of all time.

Running from midday to late doors, guests can get settled in and expect to hear stone cold classics and lesser known head nod inducers from Pharcyde, Slum Village, A Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul, Busta Rhymes, Keith Murray, Heavy D, The Roots, Common, D’Angelo, Erykah Badu, Guru, Mos Def, Lucy Pearl, Talib Kweli, Royce da 5’9″, Ghostface Killah, MF DOOM, Raekwon, and many (MANY) more.

For such a long day, sustenance is well and truly required; in typical PLY style there are some special bits and pieces on offer throughout the day. In a salute to the acclaimed 2006 31 track instrumental album, Donuts, by the man himself, fellow NQ favourites and superstar bakers Bawd Bakery will be dropping by to supply sweet treats of the same name for the event.

As always, the PLY guys have a trick or two up their sleeves and there will be a very special themed pizza and cocktail offering announced on social media on the day.

PLY’s Marketing and Events Manager, Luca Rollini, said “This is an event really close to our hearts here at PLY; we are all massive J Dilla fans so we wanted to do something in his honour…. a full day of his music seemed like the ideal choice. We want people to enjoy a day in the venue or just drop in and out knowing that every track will be a belter, surprise food and drink themed specials will be on offer and the atmosphere will be perfect”.
