Back when I was a kid I’d always love a good raffle. Buying a strip of tickets for 50p at a wedding with money that I’d scrounged off my Uncle Ged, usually winning something shite like a Lynx Voodoo Deodorant set, or a Forever Friends plate.
I’ve not seen much of a raffle flying about anywhere much recently, probably because I tend not to bother going into old Working Men’s Clubs in Oldham any more, but they’re still knocking about – if you know where to look.
Eat Well MCR have recently launched their own raffle to celebrate the start of the Manchester Food and Drink Festival, and the prizes are MUCH, MUCH better than what you’ve probably been used to in the past – with over 30 available from restaurants, bars and creatives from across the city including…
- £100 to spend at any restaurant in the El Gato group
- Meal for 2 at Tokyo Ramen
- Table for 2 at District for My First Crush + a bottle of wine OR 2 cocktails
- £100 voucher for Mackie Mayor, Markethouse Alrincham or Picturehouse Macclesfield
- £100 voucher for Tampopo
- Family Ticket for Lightopia, Heaton Park Nov 2021 – Jan 2022

Every £10 ticket helps fund 5 meals for someone in need, that might be meals for a family living in a B&B with no cooking facilities, or money for food (a reality for 100s of families in Manchester) or for women who are sheltering in a refuge.
It can also go towards families who are using Food Banks (of which there are far too many) and so every ticket sold not just means that you’re in with the chance of winning an amazing prize – but you’re going to be giving back to people most in need in Manchester.
The raffle closes at the end of the Manchester Food & Drink Festival on Monday 27th September, head on over to the site below to see all the prizes and to buy some tickets…
