Last week, Flannels’ Flagship in Spinningfields added rising star fashion label Raoul to its rails, and celebrated with an in-store presentation for Manchester’s fashion-focussed.
Already home to luxury brands such as Acne, DVF and Helmut Lang (and offering more interesting and often larger selections than the city centre’s convenient department stores), Flannels is a destination boutique for fashionistas seeking out the most coveted ready-to-wear collections all under one roof. And Raoul, showcasing simple but beautiful colour blocking with strong themes of French Riveria chic and Candy Cane colour spectrums, is a great new addition.
The in-store show presented us with some of Raoul’s key looks from the S/S 12 collection, and Charlie Miller (Grazia’s Executive Fashion and Beauty Director) and Joy Yaffe (International Brand Consultant) talked us through this season’s ‘fast look’. My personal favourite piece was the yellow Daisy top, pictured below (also available in a range of key colours and to purchase online or instore), but the whole collection stood out as easy to wear, classic in shape and colour, and at pretty reasonable price points.
Local businesses were utilised in the form of Hey Little Cupcake’s edible creations, hair treats from Nicky Clarke, and cocktails from Southern 11. This served as a nice reminder of the variety of offerings Spinningfields presents you with; often overlooked as the business district and occasional after-work drink destination, there’s a growing selection of high-end services all calling The Avenue their home, and Flannels for me stands out as one of the key reasons to visit.
For those who favour the capsule wardrobe approach, as opposed to whimsical high street splurges, Flannels’ flagship, with the welcomed addition of Raoul’s latest collection, offers a shopping experience unparalleled anywhere else in Manchester.
