Although a lot of mothers are anxious to exercise whilst pregnant- and for good reason- there are certain classes that are designed to benefit both mother and child– one of those classes being Pilates.
Pilates is a series of movements and position which helps the body to grow in strength, flexibility and balance. Similarly to yoga, Pilates also concentrates on breathing and relaxation; focusing on the execution of movements and reducing stress, but what are the benefits of Pregnancy Pilates?
This specialised style strengthens the back, pelvic floor muscles and tummy without causing strain on the joints and targets the exact muscles and functions that can be troublesome during pregnancy and after birth.
It may sound strenuous, but this branch of Pilates is specifically adapted to benefit pregnant women both physically and mentally; the instructor taking into account the abilities of every individual. But more importantly, it is also a great way to meet fellow mummy-to-be’s!
On Thursday the 4th April, ESPA are hosting a unique event for expectant mothers which will include a specialist pregnancy Pilates class, a demo of prenatal massages and an introduction to their skincare brand’s treatments for pregnant women.
The event, which will take place at Harvey Nichols, is on from 2pm-4pm and will cost only £10 a ticket which will be redeemable on any ESPA products you wish to purchase on the day.
Even if you’ve never tried Pilates before, it’s a brilliant excuse to give it a go and learn more about products, exercises and massages that could make your pregnancy journey a hell of a lot easier.
Tickets are expected to sell out quick so don’t waste any time and book your tickets now.
