Some of the biggest names in the art world will be descending upon Manchester this September (26 – 28) as Buy Art Fair returns to the city at Old Granada Studios.

Some of the biggest names in the art world will be descending upon Manchester this September (26 – 28) as Buy Art Fair returns to the city at Old Granada Studios.

The event, the largest art fair outside of London, is anticipated to attract over 8,000 people with collectors and general enthusiasts lining up to buy the work of popular artists from across the UK & Europe represented by more than 80 galleries.

Exhibiting for the first time is highly qualified art consultant and dealer Olivia Connelly. The Brighton based gallery, which specialises in modern, contemporary and Pop art will be showcasing the work of a number of artists representative of these genres including: Gerald Laing, Mark Vessey, Marcus Torres, Waleska Nomura and Gustavo Ortis.

Also featuring in the line-up of over 80 galleries is London based gallery, Curious Duke. The gallery, which counts BBC Radio 6 Music’s Mary Anne Hobbs, Coronation Street’s Ian Puleston-Davies and Blink-182’s Mark Hoppus amongst its customers, represents rising UK surrealist and urban artists and specialises in a variety of mediums from mixed media to sculpture. Included within the gallery’s showcase will be the work of Sam Peacock, who uses a mix of recycled metals and industrial paints to create landscape pieces, and Roy’s People, who specialises in creating unique images and installations using miniature figures and everyday props.

Art Republic, Art Dog London and Degree Art add to the wealth of southern based galleries heading north for this year’s event. Returning for the eighth consecutive year is Merseyside based gallery Erpen.

Speaking on Buy Art Fair Erpen Owner, Nathan Pendlebury, said: “Art fairs play a paramount role in my business, providing the opportunity to engage with a broad, captive audience. Having attended each and every Buy Art Fair, it has continued to get better and better with every successive year. It is the main event in my artistic calendar.”

New for 2014, Buy Art Fair will be staging a series of live artist paintings. The interactive and engaging exhibits will provide attendees with a rare and intimate insight into the artists’ creative process with the opportunity to purchase the resulting work.

Vaughn Horsman presented by Caiger Contemporary Art
Vaughn Horsman uses information programming data and code to produce physical objects. Although computers remain a primary tool in his conceptual process, he uses customised CNC machinery, power tools and traditional woodworking techniques, experimenting with other media including paint, plaster, paper, plastics, and aluminium to produce his mesmerising works.

Ostinelli & Priest presented by Cloud
Now instantly recognisable, their work has become highly sought after and has now experienced multiple sell out shows at Battersea and other major art exhibitions across the UK.

Romina Ressia presented by Arusha
A talented Argentinian photographer whose portraiture is showcased in over sixty countries around the world, Romina Ressia’s work beautifully captures the delicate beauty of the female form to deliver stunning photographic collections.

Herbert Ypma presented by TINT ART
Herbert Ypma is best known for his beautiful HIP HOTEL publications. He is admired for his discerning eye and his beguiling photography of some of the world’s most desirable boutique hotels.

MARNAY presented by Le Petit Atelier
His works are exhibited in several museums, municipalities, foundations and public institutions, as well as in numerous private collections across the world.

Sitting alongside Buy Art Fair and adding further prestige to the line-up is The Manchester Contemporary, a curated art event that gives a platform to emerging galleries and their artists using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England. Invited galleries include Vitrine, Carroll/Fletcher, Workplace Gallery, IMT Gallery and The International 3.

Both events will this year be staged at Manchester’s newest and most exciting venue, Old Granada Studios. Based on Quay Street, Manchester, the urban and creative venue offers the perfect scale, flexibility and city centre location to develop the fairs alongside one another.
