Rashid Rana – Everything Is Happening At Once
Until Sun 18 Dec (free, drop in)
Cornerhouse, with Asia Triennial Manchester 2011, is pleased to present the first ever UK public exhibition of Lahore-based artist Rashid Rana. Everything Is Happening At Once includes new and recent work, blending photography with sculpture to create exceptionally detailed mosaics, abstracted object-forms and installations which cut across conventional notions of the status and scale of the photographic object.

Suite Studios
Until Sun 18 Dec (free, café & bar)
To coincide with Art Night, Cornerhouse Projects presents a specially curated selection of work from Suite Studios. The group also have an open studio event at the end of November. Participating artists include Andrew Bracey, Susie MacMurray, Tim Machin, Lesley Halliwell, Fiona Donald, and Julie Cassels. Join us on Thu 24 Nov from 18:00pm in the bar for an informal launch of the exhibition, to celebrate Art Night, and possibly purchase a special Christmas gift for the art lover in your life.

Bethany Gray
Wed 21 Dec – Tue 31 Jan (free, café & bar)
Fresh from graduating in Art & Design at Manchester Metropolitan University, Bethany Gray presents a selection of her most recent paintings. Her practice is interested in the theatrical ambiguity and potential narrative content of still landscape. She uses vivid brush strokes and a highly distinctive palette of colours to create dramatic atmospheres and experiences. Join us on Wednesday 21st December from 18:00pm in the bar for an informal launch of the exhibition, where there will be an opportunity to meet the artist.

Sketch-O-Matic
Until Sun 4 Dec (open daily, including evenings – see booth for timings)
In an age of buy to invest instead of buy what you like, the making of art has been torn from human hands as mass-multiple prints flood the high street, while the buying of art is seen as rarefied and reserved for a wealthy few. Sketch-O-Matic is a full size photo booth situated in our busy café-bar, but where the machinery should be is a tiny, fully equipped artist’s studio. You, the public, are invited to sit inside as if for a photograph and make a donation to the artist through a slot for a self- portrait. Wait five minutes (give or take) and the image will appear. It may be a pencil drawing, doodle, cartoon, collage or even word-poem. Take it, frame it, consider it. Now you are both patron and muse! £1 donation per sitter to artist.

Christmas Art Book Sale
Mon 5 Dec, 11.00 – 17.00pm
Our Art Book Sale has become a much anticipated annual event, offering you the opportunity to browse a great selection of titles and to find some real bargains. Organised just at the right time of year for you to get a head start on your Christmas shopping, don’t miss this chance to buy a wide range of contemporary visual art titles at special prices.

Abstract LEGO Sculpture
Sat 10 Dec, 12:00 – 16:00 (£12 full/£10 concessions)
Rashid Rana’s photo sculptures take everyday, innocuous objects, from a stack of newspapers to a fridge, presenting them in a highly abstracted, pixellated 3D form. In this workshop inspired by Rana’s flower vase series, you will create your own LEGO brick sculpture under the expert tutelage of Duncan Titmarsh – the UK’s only Lego Certified Professional. Adults only. Limited capacity, early booking recommended.
